Happy New Year, folks. If we want to get really technical, this site is now in its third year of existence, since I started uploading it at the end of 2001. Which means it's been around during 2001, 2002 and 2003. Fascinating, hey.
You guys can stop emailing me that quote I asked for on Jerry's behalf the other day. Dimitry and "unstandable" have come through with the goods. (Claudia also emailed me, so thanks to her as well.) For those interested, the quote was:
"We're all one thing, Lieutenant. Thats what I've come to realize. Like cells in a body. 'Cept we can't see the body. The way fish can't see the ocean. And so we envy each other. Hurt each other. Hate each other. How silly is that? A heart cell hating a lung cell."- Cassie from THE THREE
unstandable also pointed me to a long but nifty 3-part analysis of Adaptation by David Poland, who basically gives us a scene-by-scene recounting of the film. Stay away from it if you're spoiler-allergic. Seriously. Otherwise:
You may remember Poland did cartwheels over the script a while ago.
The Washington Area Film Critics Association are fence-sitters. Not content with giving one director the gong for Best... um, Director, they decided to split the thing 3 ways just to keep everyone happy. (Everyone except runners-up Peter Jackson and Rob Marshall, and all the others who weren't nominated.) The 3 winners were Sam Mendes, Denzel Washington (don't get me started on him) and Spike Jonze. Oh, you just knew I'd say Spike. Other nods given to Adaptation: Best Film (runner-up); Best Supporting Actor (Chris Cooper tied with Dennis Haysbert); and Best Adapted Screenplay (Charlie Kaufman... no mention of Donald). More info here. Thanks Sis.
